Steam Heavy haulage Road Run to Dorset Raising Funds for Teenage Cancer trust

After a fantastic trip on the London to Brighton run Road and few nights sleep.

We decided to set ourselves a further challenge.

The trailer which belongs to The Great Dorset Steam Fair needs to go back to Tarrant Hinton, Dorset in time for the show 31.08.11 – 04.09.11

‘Why not take it back by steam’ said the show Organiser Martin Oliver.

After a few more sleeps and sleepless nights, some phone calls to the authorities it appeared that this would be possible. All the police, councils and network rail have been absolutely fantastic with helping to allow this run happen.

So here we go the same line up ;

His Majesty - Burrell 6NHP Road Loco

Boadicea - Mclaren 10 NHP Road Loco

The Crane trailer and transformer load

The Great North - Fowler 8NHP Road Loco

The route

2am Friday Leave Horsham yard, Station Road, through Horsham, taking the B2237to join A24.

Continue A24 to Worthing, pick up A27

Continue A24 Crossbush, Arundel, Tangmere, Chichester

At Cosham follow old A27, Portchester to Fareham

At the Park Gate area of Fareham we will hope to have our 1 overnight stop

2am Saturday rejoin the A27 follow High vehicle route via Wide lane then rejoin A27

Continue A27 towards Romsey then Whiteparish joining the A36

Continue A36 to Whaddon our 2 overnight stop.

Approximately 7am follow the A36 to Salisbury to join the A354

Continue A354 to the show ground at Tarrant Hinton.

It would be fantastic if we could raise further funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, whilst hopefully providing many people a taste of yesteryear.
