We did it! Hooray. Each mountain was uniquely challenging and a great achievement for us. It was harder than we thought …
Ben Nevis was a lovely sunny day with thousands of midges to keep us company. The mountain was very busy as it was the best day they had that week, it was nice to have company up there. The ascent was long (as expected) at 4.25 miles and climbing 4400ft. The descent was uncomfortable and later just painful; it felt like someone was hammering nails into our knees.
Scafell Pike welcomed us with sunshine and a lovely calm day, and then it rained. It turns out we chose the hardest route and it described it as ‘slow going’, we now fully appreciate this statement. The terrain was awkward and uncomfortable, the path disappeared long before it told us it would become ‘indistinct’ and the clouds came down. We had map and compass and were well prepared but it was painfully slow. This one was less physically demanding thanBen Nevis, but mentally challenging because it required constant care to move anywhere and it felt like you were going nowhere. A challenging 7.5 miles taking 7h 45m.
Snowdon was supposed to be the easy one at the end, but heavy rain and 70mph winds ensures it was both frightening and far from easy. We almost turned back before the top because we were struggling to stay standing at numerous times and it just got worse the higher we went. The photo to the left if from the summit ofSnowdon, we made it but we didn’t dare stand up! It was hands and knees across the top. This was the longest of the walks at 10 miles but also the quickest at 4hrs.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us.

The cause We are both passionate about helping people and CAP are an inspiring organization that is transforming lives every day. They offer hope and a hands-on practical solution for those imprisoned by debt. Why did we chose to help with debt? Because in the ; - someone goes bankrupt or insolvent every 4 minutes. - 123 homes are repossessed every day - debt grows by £1m every 5 minutes!
The challenge We will climb the 3 highest peaks in 5 days (3 climbing days and 3 travelling days without a support team).
Why use JustGiving? Because they are quick, easy and totally secure ensuring CAP get as much of the money as possible. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Christians Against Poverty gets your money faster and, if you’re ataxpayer, Justgiving claim an extra 28% from the government and add it to your gift at no cost to you.
Why not the 24 hour challenge? A few people have asked why we are not doing it in 24 hours, here is why; 1. You climb one of the peaks in darkness. Each year mountain rescue have to risk their lives attending ‘3 peakers’ because they are lost, injured or killed due to exhaustion, confusion and bad weather. 2. You need a support team to feed and drive you, there’s just us two 3. It’s destroying the natural environment around the 3 peaks, thousand of people at once do much more damage than the same number spread over a year. It’s destroying the quality of life of the residents In June last year 30,000 people arrived, many in the early hours, creating noise, litter and path erosion as well as pollution (no flushing toilets or mains water at Wasdale head)
We have chosen a safer and more environmentally responsible option which will represent a major challenge to us as one of us is asthmatic and we are both afraid of heights.
All money donated goes straight to help those in debt; we are paying all our own costs. We need your help to hit our target.
So please sponsor us now!
