My story

THANK YOU for taking the time to consider sponsoring one of the HOW FAR 2011 teams!  The HOW FAR CHALLENGE is a 36 hour event (25-26 June, 2011) in which teams compete to get as far away from Brighton as possible and back again, using no money.  Their only currency is their wit, charm, out of the box thinking and persuasive conversation.  Whilst competing in this challenge participants will:

-        - Take as many different types of transports as possible (last year we managed milk floats, boats, cars, lorries, trains, street cleaning vehicles, scooters amongst others!)

-        - Complete as many of the set challenges as possible (these ranged from swapping clothes with a member of the public to reaching the Eiffel Tower!)

-        - Reach the furthest point possible (whilst being sponsored for every 250 miles of straight line distance the travel away from Brighton)

LAST YEAR this event raised in excess of £5,000 for essential works that were needed in order to keep St Peter’s Church from being closed.  This year, we are fundraising for the community projects that St Peter’s Church is running in the local area.  These include drug & alcohol rehabilitation courses as well as a much needed meal for the homeless every Saturday evening – to which more than 90 ‘guests’ come along.

INSPIRED BY last year’s intrepid forerunners, the number of teams that are signed up for this year’s event has already surpassed the total number that went last year!  Not only this, but we have won the support of local businesses who have given very generously towards this challenge.  Examples of these companies include Brewers (www.brewers.co.uk), Higgidy Pies (www.higgidy.co.uk), and Seraphim (www.seraphim.co.uk).

PLEASE GIVE whatever you can - it really will make a difference! Thank you!

When you make your donation, please write a comment to say who it is supporting, including their first and last name.
