The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

The How hard can it be? team comprises father and son combo, Stan and Phil Jenkins.  We have signed up to take part in the Plymouth-Banjul Challenge.  This is a 4000 mile car journey through Europe and West Africa. Although much of it is on tarmac, several hundred miles will take place across the sands of the Sahara Desert!  We will be driving a 16 year old, 1045cc VW Polo (see the picture).

We plan to depart on December 20th and should take 3 weeks to drive through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Senegal, before finally reaching our destination of Banjul, .

If we make it to Banjul, the car and all the bits and pieces we have been donated to help us get there, will be auctioned and the proceeds will be given to local Gambian charities.  Meanwhile we are also raising money for two other charities - Macmillan Cancer Support and Good Morning Teacher (to provide education in Northern Sudan).  We hope to raise £5,000 for each (£10,000 in total).

This page is for donations to Macmillan (we must keep the donations page separate for legal reasons). Please donate as much as you can and for those of you who pay tax in the United Kingdom, please check the Gift Aid box to increase your donation!
