Story
Hello from Hugh
Many thanks for visiting this page - and thinking about me in the Great South Run on 9th October.
The good news is that I took part, finished the course in 2hours 42 minutes and 37 seconds, and came 11018 out of the 16000+ entrants.
My co-runner Anne d'Souza was in a few minutes ahead of me. So we survived the knee pains, sunshine, hard pavements - thanks to all our companion runners and the people of Portsmouth urging us on.
Together we've raised over £1700 for CAFOD - and our 48-strong Team on the day raised about £15000 - a staggering amount. You can see a full report, with pictures and interviews, at www.cafod.org.uk/run - just go to the Great South Run page. I wasn't the oldest in our team. Frank Campbell of Southampton is 74 and grandfather of 12 - and came home in under 2 hours. That's my aiming point for next. Oh yes, I've put my name down already. IF YOU'VE GOT A TWINGE OF CONSCIENCE TO MATCH THE TWINGES ANNE AND I STILL HAVE IN OUR KNEES... ...then you can still use this JustGiving page to give. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. CAFOD will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Gordon Brown is once again getting his wallet out. Your giving can be anonymous or known to all. And anything will be welcome. With very many thanks for your support. And watch this space in 2006! Hugh
