My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  My son is helping me to raise funds for the Jamyang Buddhist Centre, by putting himself up for sponsoring in a 24 hour marathon race being held in Spain in May - and here he is finishing a double marathon, full of joy.

Jamyang is a centre for meditation and the study of Tibetan Buddhism in the heart of London. Since its establishment in 1978, its main aims are to provide Buddhist teachings to everyone interested, and to develop local community services. It also has the wonderful good fortune of having  Geshe Tashi Tsering as a resident teacher, whose teachings transform the lives of all of us who have been taught by him.  He is a an exceptional teacher of Buddhism, modest,  much-respected and sought-after world-wide;  we are extraordinarily  lucky to have him with us as a resident teacher; and preserving Mahayana teachings in the Gelugpa tradition is incredibly important in these turbulent times.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.  Jamyang Buddhist Centre gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please read below and sponsor my son now

Hugh’s race takes place in Madrid. It is a 24 hour event run over the weekend 9/10 May. It comprises running for 24 hours around a 1200 metre circuit. The circuit is in a residential district of the city and is close to Madrid airport. It includes running around a bull ring. The event is registered with the International Amateur Athletics Federation and Hugh hopes to complete 100 miles during the 24 hours of the race. It is Hugh’s fourth ultra-distance running race. Hugh is a keen marathon runner and has previously run 56 miles from London to Brighton offroad as well as 80 miles over two days on a route along the Regents Park Canal near London. He also runs regularly in the Welsh mountains.

Any little bit you can offer will go towards  Jamyang's activities, and all of us at Jamyang will be very grateful.

Best of luck Hugh. Donation by Pippa, Matt and Charlie 18/05/09
