Story
** Have completed my trek now - hoping to be able to share photos soon. A very big thank you to everyone who sponsored me and helped raise so much money for such a worthwhile charity**
My name is Claire Harwood and I have decided to take part in a 250km sledding challenge from Norway to Sweden to help raise valuable funds for Bath Cats and Dogs Home (charity No. 205594).
All the money I raise will go towards helping some of the 3,000 animals that come through their doors every year. Bath Cats & Dogs Home is one of the largest re-homing centres in the UK and pride themselves on their strict non-destruction policy. They receive no government, lottery or RSPCA funding and therefore their £1.2 million annual running costs are funded exclusively by voluntary donations.
I am aiming to raise at least £3,000 pounds so every penny counts! The challenge will not only consist of driving huskies but also being responsible for looking after them during this Arctic adventure. I will be travelling up to 50km each day and staying in a tent in freezing conditions (I have been warned that temperatures can drop to -20c at night). This is a real hands-on expedition and I hope it will encourage people to help raise money for a very worthy cause.
Thank you.
* Sorry everyone I forgot to mention when I am off on my little adventure! I fly out on the 17th April 2011 so please help me reach my target before this!
