Resisting poverty. Empowering people. Restoring hope. Off The Fence helps the socially excluded in Brighton & Hove. The charity offers: emergency outreach to homeless individuals and a homeless day centre; a schools programme for 6-18 year olds; and a women’s centre supporting women in crisis.

Story

1. I want to run the Brighton half marathon next year.

2. I'm lazy and hate running

3. Off the Fence do great work in Brighton and Hove, particularly amongst the homeless.

To help motivate me to actually run and actually train for it, I've set myself the challenge of running 500 miles, finishing with the Brighton half marathon next February. That's about 1.5 miles every day - a daunting prospect!

This will involve losing a stone or two, I trust (although my Doritos and fondant icing obsessions may inhibit this). It will definitely involve some early mornings and lots of wanting-to-give-up. It may even involve recording a cover version of a well-known Proclaimers hit - but I'm not sure if that's an incentive or a threat.

Every donation helps this great charity that everyone can get behind. £5 is one penny for every mile I run. So sling Off the Fence a few quid and let's DO THIS!
