On the 15th November I'll be celebrating my 21st birthday, and I'm so fortunate to be finally able to be studying at university! It's a dream come true. But none of this would have been possible without The Frank Buttle Trust.
When I started uni this year, I had very little; but thanks to Elizabeth Davenport, the Theology dept., and all the staff at York St. John University I got the support I needed to stay in uni. I was given a care leavers bursary by The Frank Buttle Trust, which meant I could afford to do basic grocery shopping and travel to university each week. The trust paid £3 million in over 10,000 grants in 2008-09; but needs more donations to keep helping children and young people in desperate need. I will be doing a series sponsored events to help raise money for this charity.
Wednesday 11th November 2009 - A 24 hour sponsored silence
Thursday 12th November - A 15 mile sponsored walk and trike-ride from Selby to York
Friday 13th November 2009 - A 24 hour sponsored fast
Please help me celebrate my 21st birthday, and say thank you to The Frank Buttle Trust, York St. John University and ALL their staff by donating via this JustGiving page. Don't forget if you're a UK taxpayer, you can gift aid it! Please say "I CARE!"
