I am supporting GASTROCAN (Grampian Gastro-oesophageal Cancer Research Fund) by doing a parachute jump from 10000ft. I have chosen to support this charity as a close family member, William (Bill) Michie, recently lost his battle against Oesophageal cancer and I feel it is important to raise more awareness and understanding of these types of illness. The cost of the parachute jump will be met separately, so please sponsor as much as you can because all of the money raised will be donated to GASTROCAN to aid Dr Petty and his team in the work that they do.
Please read on to understand what your donation will fund:-
Founded by Dr Russell Petty, GASTROCAN is the only charity raising money specifically for research into stomach and oesophageal cancer. Dr Petty leads the Aberdeen University and NHS Grampian research into the causes and treatments of this devastating disease.
Main aims of GASTROCAN include:
· Undertake internationally important cancer research locally in Grampian
· Enable local patients to benefit from the latest cutting edge treatments for gastric and oesophageal cancer
· Help recruit the best doctors to work in Grampian to be part of the research
· Raise awareness of gastric and oesophageal cancer so that patients recognise the symptoms and seek medical help earlier
