Tired of jogging, I'm on my bike this year, tackling about one hundred and ninety kilometres (approx 119 miles) of steep French alp. Along with thousands of others, I will be cycling the Etape du Tour - a chance for amateurs to ride an authentic stage of the Tour de France (in this case it's stage 15 from Gap to L'Alpe d'Huez).
The 'Alpe' and its infamous 21 hairpin bends is one of the most iconic climbs in the Tour's history and this tough event, just like the real thing, has an elimination time limit. So if you sponsor me, there's a slim chance I may not finish, although I'll put in every effort to pedal to the top before the dreaded broom wagon.
