Story
Howzit!
Following my awesome, monumental success in the marathon last year, I have realised I need a really good excuse to avoid all the blood, sweat and pain involved in getting another Personal Best. So, my excuse for this year is: I'm running as a WOMBLE! Yes, for all those who grew up in the 70s and 80s, I will be running 26.2 miles (or 42.2km) dressed as a large, furry resident of Wimbledon Common. My chosen Womble is ironically Orinoco, the rather fat and very lazy Womble - not the sort of womble you'd expect to see in this race! The picture next door pretty much says it all...
So, please dig deep and sponsor me and my insane plan! Each and every last penny will go straight to Jesuit Missions for projects in Southern Africa. I always like to back a winner, so I'm even sponsoring myself a hefty coupla hundred quid, so I dare anyone to match it.
For information, the specific projects I am fundraising for are the Jesuit Refugee Service, Nazareth House Cape Town and the Jesuit AIDS/HIV projects in Cape Town. Let get some serious cash going for these projects!
If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you. Unfortunately, Trevor Manuel is not quite so generous, but please don't let that stop all my SA friends giving hugely!
Huge thanks for your support and watch this space for updates of my training and the run! Cheers Iain
