Thank you for visiting.
Those who know me, will know that I am not the most likely candidate to run in a half marathon, or even for a bus! Unfit, overweight, and in something of a panic might describe my state, as I write this.
I am taking this uncharacteristic step in order to honour the memory of Charlotte, an intelligent, adventurous, and very much alive two year old who recently died as a result of leukaemia. She made a deep impression on me during the relatively short time that I knew her, and I know that I was not alone in being horrified by the swiftness and finality of her illness.
Please take this opportunity to make a donation to Leukaemia Research, who are dedicated to fighting this evil disease, and help them to fulfil their goal of making it into a thing of the past.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leukaemia Research will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now, and think of me on October 1st as I trudge round the 13.2 miles of the Great North Run. For my part, I'll greatly appreciate your kind donations and good wishes, and I'll run the damn race if it kills me :)
Many thanks for your support.
PS: As some people have expressed an interest, I have published my training programme online for your edification or, more probably, amusement :)
I did it!
My Great North Run was completed in 2 hours, 45 minutes and 45 seconds. Many thanks to everyone who supported me with donations to Leukaemia Research. This page will stay open for a couple of months - if you didn't get around to sponsoring me before, it isn't too late! Thanks again!
