Flora London Marathon 2007 · 22 April 2007 ·

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Finished at last - its taken a bit longer to get here than I anticipated. After the disapointment of missing the London marathon through injury to my back it took 2 months to get back to running. This would not allow me time to run the full Robin Hood marathon in Nottingham so I decided to try and run a half marathon pb (personal best) in Jim's favourite race. The Robin Hood half marathon was on Sunday 16th September - with 10,000 runners on a sunny day down by the embankment. I achieved a pb of 1:24 to finish 106th (17th in my age group) a result with which I am very pleased. Legs a bit sore today though! Half the raised money will be used by Pancreatic Cancer UK to fund research, and I have given £2000 to Ward E15 at the QMC where Jim was a patient (our pancreatic cancer ward) which we have used to buy 6 special reclining chairs for patients. Thank you all for your generous donations - I will run the London Marathon next year anyway (automatic entry for injury) and am planning another Charity run in 2009 - something a bit longer, hotter and hillier!!
