Many will think me mad to agree to take part in the White Peaks Challenge in 2009 during the 2008 event, however I am committed to helping Scope raise money to fund the important work they do to support some of the most vulnerable members of society.

The 2008 White Peaks Challenge, from 15th to 18th March 2008 in Austria, was more of a challenge than I had ever imagined it could be. We had to cover around 130km of pistes and 24 peaks in only 2 days of skiing.

When we set off in Leogang the weather conspired to make everything more difficult.

On both days the combination of rain, snow, sleet, hail and fog meant that we were skiing blind on less than perfect slopes however I am delighted to say that everyone completed the challenge and, combined with the efforts of the participants in the Utah Ski Marathon, managed to raise over £175,000 in the process.

Once again may I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me and express my hope that you will all support me again for White Peaks 2009.
