ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

As you probably know I will be running the London Marathon on 13th April to raise money for ME research UK.

ME is a chronic illness affecting around 240,000 people in the UK, many of whom are bed-bound for years with little hope of recovery. I have seen first hand the affects this illness can have on the sufferer and those that care about them. Over the years I have tried to understand more about the causes of this illness and the work being undertaken to develop an effective treatment. However, whilst ME is recognised as a serious chronic condition by the Chief Medical Officers of England and Scotland, comparatively little research has been conducted into its causes and consequences. ME research UK are a charity dedicated to funding research into this illness. If you would like to know more about their work please visit their website www.meresearchuk.org.uk

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ME Research UK (ME Research Group For Education And Support, MERGE) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Having recently completed the Reading half marathon as training for the big one! I have realised just how far 26 miles is! It's gonna hurt! So please sponsor me now!

Thank you for your support.
