My story

I did it! I ran the London Marathon on the 26th of April (26.2 miles!!). It took me 4 hours 54 minutes, and was one of the best experiences of my life. The weather was pretty challenging but the crowds were amazing, and the feeling of crossing that line was priceless!

If you were wondering why I put myself through it, watch the video under my picture. If you haven't got round to it - you can still sponsor me as I'm now running the Berlin Marathon on September 20th!!! - please donate as much as you can afford, any help, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.   If you can't get your head around this site - email me at ian.conroy@bt.com and we can sort something out and I will put it on this site for you.

The London Marathon is over but I am now embarking on the Berlin Marathon!!!!!!

20th September 2009!!

I am again running for ChildLine and need to raise £1000.

I raised £2,265.24 by running the London Marathon so to keep things simple I have kept this page and raised my total to £3,300.

Every day around 4,500 children call ChildLine, but lack of funds means that only 2,500 of them will get through to our counsellors for comfort, advice and protection.

What your money can achieve......................

£4 answers a call to ChildLine

£42 means a child can receive full counselling from a ChildLine volunteer

£1,600 could be used to recruit and train a ChildLine volunteer counsellor. Among other factors the more counsellors we can recruit, the more calls we can answer.

£3,476 could pay for all the costs associated with all the work a ChildLine counsellor will do during a year.

Please make a donation, even if it's only a couple of quid, it's halfway to answering one more call closer to 100%

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ChildLine gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my site and please sponsor me now!

I completed Berlin and knocked a MASSIVE.........erm 5 minutes off my London time coming in at 4 hrs 49 mins.

I tried to generate some donations by stirring up Civic pride and going head to head with my Bradfordian running partner and set up another site www.justgiving.com/hd1 but that fell pretty much flat on it's face.

With people donating on both sites, I will record the HD1(£274.50) money on here to give a clearer picture.

Thanks again for your generosity during these difficult times!!!!!!
