I am running 3 runs in total: Liverpool Half-Marathon - 27th March 2011 Sheffield Half-Marathon - 8th May 2011 Manchester 10k - 15th May 2011 In 2009 I went to Sierra Leone, West Africa and saw what a civil war can do to disrupt a country. Sierra Leone has <strong style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">one of the worst health statistics in the world, and some of the people have very little education. Despite having next to nothing, the people in Sierra Leone have a huge sense of community, pride, expectation and hope. <strong style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">Education is seen as a way to achieve and is seen as a privilege – and is not taken for granted. .  <p style="margin: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: 20.4pt; vertical-align: baseline; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">That's why <strong style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">I'm running for 'Build on Books' - part of the Construction and Development Partnership (CODEP), so that books can continue to be sent to Sierra Leone. When I went in 2009, <strong style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">there was 1 book for every 100 children. Now, thanks to 'Build on Books', <strong style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">156 schools now have a library.
