Story
I am running 3 runs in total:
Liverpool Half-Marathon - 27th March 2011
Sheffield Half-Marathon - 8th May 2011
Manchester 10k - 15th May 2011
In 2009 I went to Sierra Leone, West Africa and saw what a civil war can do to disrupt a country. Sierra Leone has one of the worst health statistics in the world, and some of the people have very little education. Despite having next to nothing, the people in Sierra Leone have a huge sense of community, pride, expectation and hope. Education is seen as a way to achieve and is seen as a privilege – and is not taken for granted.
.
That's why I'm running for 'Build on Books' - part of the Construction and Development Partnership (CODEP), so that books can continue to be sent to Sierra Leone. When I went in 2009, there was 1 book for every 100 children. Now, thanks to 'Build on Books', 156 schools now have a library. Some teachers have never taught with books, which is unthinkable considering what we have here.
Waterloo and the rest of the country is definitely on the way up, and this can continue with funding...so please donate whatever you can - whether it's £1 or more, whatever you can give is great, and will help make a difference.
For those interested, I'm aiming and have been training to run the Half-Marathons (13.1 miles) in 1 hour 45 minutes. For the 10k I am aiming for around 40 to 42 minutes.

I am funding myself for the event entry fees. 'Build on Books', nor 'CODEP' are supporting me financially. This therefore allows more Gift Aid to be reclaimed.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to CODEP and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
