  • Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Ian Jenkins and about this time last year, having just turned 40 (ish) I decided that I'd have my mid life crisis......I'd always promised myself a tattoo, a motorbike and a blonde bimbo. However on reflection I decided that a motorbike would probably end up killing me and the wife told me a tattoo would result in a divorce.

Sat reading the paper one day and wondering if I'd get away with the blonde bimbo or whether it would lead to both a divorce and being killed (by either the bimbo or the wife!) I came across an article by a cyclist who had just done Lands End to John O'Groats (LeJog).....best part of 900 miles and he was saying how beautiful the UK was if you took the time to look.

Well I do around 30,000 miles a year around the UK for my job but most of it is on soulless motorways and spent looking at the brake lights of the car in front, so I decided there and then to do LeJog as my mid life crisis.

A few people wanted to join me either in cycling or supporting and suffice to say 12 months later they are no where to be seen!.....so I'm doing it on my own, me, my bike, a few provisions and off we go on 6th June, hopefully ending on 18th June.

First thing people ask when you tell them is "what cause are you doing it for?"....well that wasn't the intention and it was really just another thing to organise, but after one local charity showed me how much they needed support I decided to do so. All expenses for the trip including Bike, Hotels and Mars Bars are funded by myself so everything anyone pledges will go to the charity.

The 2 charities I'm raising money for are "Amy's House" which is a small local charity that provides respite care for Children with special needs and the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society which supports sufferers as well as helping look for a cure for a disability which could not only affect every single one of us but is also the largest single cause of disabilities in Children under 16.

I intend to do a blog which I will update at the end of each days cycling, updating everyone on progress and anything interesting that has happened during the day.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
