We are the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer Research UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (1089464), Scotland (SC041666), the Isle of Man (1103) and Jersey (247).

Story

My name is Ian Larner. In October 2009, my mum died early of cancer that was diagnosed too late and untreatable.

I am raising money for Cancer Research UK, to support their research on all aspects of cancer in the hope that for others in future cancer will be diagnosable in time, and treatable or even preventable.

Every pound you donate makes a difference to cancer research that has already saved millions of lives in the UK and across the world.  So please dig deep and donate now :-)

In September 2010, I will be one of the 'sorebums' cycling about 2000km from Winchester to Gibraltar with other riders as part of the Inspired Living project.  We'll be slogging hard on average about 130km each day, day-in day-out for 14 days through western France and the spine of Spain all the way to Gibraltar.

I signed up for Inspired Living as it is also an inspirational exercise in "turning what is a devastating loss into something positive", and in committing to changes that are to the benefit of my fitness and health.
