Story

Day 7

Woke up to pouring rain. Stayed in tent til mid day waiting for it to pass. Torrential in some places.  Then started gruelling 12 hour journey home.  Arrived at 1.30am!!!

Day 5

Travelled down from the tip of Scotland to Jedburgh and await the band of rain to sweep thru in the morning :-(  Great roads.

Day 4

Fantastic weather. Glorious roads. Made it to John O'Groats, which is like a godforsaken theme park, and then on to Dunnet Head which is the true furthest most northern point of the British Isles. Great biking country and reminded me of the south island in New Zealand.

Now for the long trip home and it looks like the weather is coming in!!

Day 3

The best day yet. Bright blue skies and sunshine. Glorious rides over the penines and through cumbria. Clear roads to bomb along. Now at lovely campsite at Dunkeld. Been talking to a 90 year old blind lady. A true character.  Should make it to John O' Groats and the true furthest most point of the British Isles which is actually Dunnet Head.

Day 2

A good days riding and now camped near Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Fab scenery, dry stone walls, rolling moors and passes. Walking like John Wayne - a little saddle sore!!! Crossing over the border tomorrow.

Day 1

I'm now camped at the Old Railway camp at Tintern, in the Wye Valley. Today has been quite hard, and busy. From Lands End to Minehead was a motorcyclists dream along the A39.  Later sat nave took me down a back road, and hit a huge bump, which had me off the saddle, and footpags, bottomed out the suspension. Some amazing roller coaster roads. big grins!! xxx

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is my own personal challenge, to ride from Lands End, to John O'Groats, in 6 days.  That's a 2000 mile round trip.  On my KTM Superduke 1000cc motorbike, and 'the difficult route', ie, I'm using A and B roads, and avoiding motorways.

If you would like to sponsor me, my chosen charity is Cancer Research. The best and quickest way to sponsor me is on line now (rather than asking me to remind you to give me the cash later on).
