Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

My Dad died in January 2008 from Bowel/Liver Cancer at the age of 80. He had survived this cancer 40 years previous and lived without any further complication until just before his 79th birthday. Anyone who knew my Dad was amazed at how fit and young he looked for his age and I am in no doubt that if it wasn't for the cancer we would have been able to share many more years.

At least my Dad got to see his Grandchildren, Finlay was 4 and Ava 2 when he died. I wish he could see Ava now though, in such a short time she has grown up so much and is as my Dad predicted, a very clever little girl that is going to be big trouble. My Mother in law Janet however did not get to see her Granchildren as she died nearly 9 years ago from Stomach Cancer and is also very sadly missed especially by her daughter Kate and Son's Alex and Oliver who was only 5 years old at the time.

As you can see these Cancers have taken a toll on my family. Bowel Cancer is the 3rd most common cancer of all and 2nd in women after breast. It too easily goes undetected until it can be too late spreading to Stomach and Liver due to the excessive blood flow between these organs. Due to change in lifestyle, diet and exercise Bowel cancer is becoming more common and it is highly likely that directly or indirectly it will affect someone reading this page.

Beating bowel cancer is an awareness charity so it really is making a difference. Bowel cancer detected early  is one of the more curable cancers and rarely makes a reappearance. My Dad was a living testament to this as 40 years without  cancer is proof that it can be cured.

My Dads illness has longer lasting effects as all of his decendents are believed to be at risk from hereditary cancer. This has encourage me to keep fit and I am now a little bit hooked on running. There fore I am not asking you to sponsor me because this is a big effort, I am doing this because I enjoy it but I am trying to raise money at the same time. So I hope you can help me raise awareness of this disease.

You never know visiting this page could save a life through awareness so please visit the Beating Bowel Cancer website become aware and see if you can help too

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Beating Bowel Cancer gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
