Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

On 18th May 2008, I will (attempt to ) abseil down the 128 ft Peel Tower on Holcombe Hill, near Ramsbottom (see picture), in aid of The Anthony Nolan Trust. Given the fact that I am 53 years old, diabetic, hypertensive, unfit and overweight, I must be truly mad!!!

UPDATE - 13th March 2008: I'm very happy to say that I will now be joined by one of the presenters on my local radio station - 107 The Bee. The evening show presenter, EJ, who has a fear of heights, has kindly agreed to take part.

19th May 2008 - SUCCESS!!

I'm happy to say that I completed the abseil successfully. This picture (in case you wondered!) is me kissing the medal after the event at the foot of the Tower. Many thanks to all who donated and pledged sponsorship. I fell a little short of my target of £500, but I'm quite happy with £356.

Now, if I ever suggest to anyone that I'm going to do something this daft again..................................................

Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Anthony Nolan Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
