Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. All the planning, stress and worry has come to an end, however I do hope the support and donations will continue. A big thank you to the girls who took part, and to the revellers of Peterborough who gave generously and were a credit to our city. Take a look at the pictures from the night, and if you would like to see more then they are available on my Facebook page.

Cancer... Just the word itself strikes fear and despair in us all. Every man, woman and child on the face of the planet will be affected by cancer either directly or indirectly in their lifetime so what greater reason to support the work of Cancer Research.

About me: I have a personal passion for the needs of the homeless and have had a dream of raising awareness for the plight of rough sleepers in the UK, so therefore as I embark on a 1 man mission to change the world I thought to myself "Hey Ian why not sleep rough for Cancer Research?" Why not indeed! What stops us from following our dreams and striving to make a difference? Is it thinking that 1 man can't make a difference? Well if I have learnt anything over the years it is that we can all make a difference albeit in our own small way that may seem insignificant, but if we all join in making a small insignificant difference, together we can make a very BIG difference to the world in which we live.

I am however new to fund raising, this being my first time at going solo so to speak. My rough sleeping event may be the first of many ideas for the future, the more I raise for Cancer Research UK, the more determined I will be to continue, so please support me in this life changing experience.

The Event took place on the night of 16th July 2011, and was on Cathedral Square in Peterborough, and involved me and some very special individuals sleeping, well not so much sleeping rough for the night. We collected from the good people of Peterborough, and the cause was very much welcomed by the revellers.

Big Thanks to the following people that took part on the night: Inge King, Cheryl Winfield, Donna Reed, Tammy Mews, as well as Zoe and Graham Binns that provided added support through the night. Your support means the world to me, may your actions inspire others. Thank you to Chloe Williams from The Cancer Research UK fund raising team for all her help and support.

How will the money be spent?

.. could buy around 500 glass microscope slides for studying cells and tumour samples.

...could pay for one pair of cryogenic gloves.
