'David Atkins owner 'iCan Fitness''; I do these adventure races as recreation and am former Royal Navy but for some of our team taking part this will be a whole new experience. This year the Rat Race company that organise them are producing something of Epic proportions 'Dirty Weekend' 20 miles 200 obstacles, 105m Monkey Bars, World Record Attempt. We thought, 'why not do this for a cause/charity. Instead of restricting this to one cause, I looked at the heart of my home town and recognised the Emma Newton Fund and Tynedale Hospice both provide great services to our community. I did look at a number of others but I felt that these covered all aspects of life, from giving new opportunities, creating a better community to supporting those around us and their families during hard times. While all charities have their own great causes, these are the ones I have chosen, I hope that you may share my belief and support in some way.
