Story

----NEWS FLASH----

I have completed the race! I finished my first London Marathon in 6 hours and 13 minutes, through a combination of running, jogging, walking, hobbling and (I kid you not) dancing. And I did it all whilst dressed as an American footballer!

This page will continue to accept donations until December 2012, so whilst the sporting effort is over, the fundraising drive continues! All proceeds go to the Ian Charleson Day Centre, a specialist HIV and AIDS clinic in Royal Free Hospital, North London. You can donate online here. Alternatively, text 'SAHA79 £5' to 70070 to donate a fiver, or 'SAHA79 £10' to donate a tenner.

Last year marked 30 years since AIDS was first identified. Ian Charleson was a renowned Scottish actor who appeared as an Olympic athlete in the classic British film Chariots of Fire, and was one of the highest-profile British people to die of the disease. I'm honoured to support the centre named in his memory during what is Britain's own Olympic year, and would be grateful for your support.

Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored and encouraged me to date,

Salem x
