I want to tell you why I'm here...

I've always yearned to help the people in this world who need it the most. Poverty is an ugly thing, it's unjust at the core and really should not exist. But sadly it does – and unfortunately women seem to be the worse hit – and Oxfam is a charity that helps this cause.

Lightbulb moment

So I wondered; how can I contribute? How can I use what I do in life to raise money for Oxfam for International Women's Day?' And I came up with an idea that both excited and inspired me! The idea was to make a unique piece of jewellery that I can raffle off for £2 per entry.

Funds raised through events (like this one) will make a real difference to women around the world:

- Every minute a woman with no medical care dies in pregnancy or childbirth, but £46 raised through an event could enable Oxfam to train a midwife in Ghana, saving the lives of babies and their mothers.

- Two-thirds of all children denied school are girls, but £135 raised could train five teachers in Mali, providing a whole generation of children with the skills they need to work their way out of poverty.
