Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Insulin allows your body to store or use sugar and to turn it into energy to make your body work.

People with diabetes type 1 have to regulate their own levels of insulin manually, measuring their blood sugar levels by pricking their finger to get a droplet of blood and then dosing themselves with some insulin by injection, multiple times a day. Get it wrong and their life is at stake, get it inaccurate and there are many very unpleasant side effects.

People without diabetes type 1 are lucky. Your body automatically measures and regulates your insulin. You don't have to think about it.

I want to help Diabetes UK, because I want to see development of automated systems that do the measurements and control the insulin release automatically for type 1 diabetics. Systems that are available to all and that are not designed to have inherent replaceable parts just to make a profit for the companies that make them...rechargeable, reusable, repairable.

My wife has diabetes type 1 and she is the strongest person I know.

Thank you for donating.
