We aim to grant the magical Wishes to children with life threatening illnesses

Story

In December 2009 we suffered the terrible loss of our second daughter, Isla Rose Miller. Isla was 21 weeks into her term when she became very poorly. She leaves behind two heartbroken parents and our wonderful daughter Gracie Florence who was so looking forward to becoming a big sister.

Our little girl was laid to rest yesterday (28th January). We have had to cope with some agonising things over the last two months. The worse of which was having to tell Grace that Isla had died. We told her that God had decided that he wanted her to become an Angel. Grace immediately came up with the idea of building a ladder long enough to reach heaven so that she could play with her little sister. She's not given up on this idea bless her !

My friends at work did an amazing thing by having a star named after Isla Rose. Grace now blows a kiss to the skies every night and tells her little sis to sleep well. Our family, friends and work colleagues have been amazing supports. More than they know.

I want to turn this terrible tragedy into something positive. On Sunday 12th September, me along with my mates Simon, Mike and Neil will be running the marathon in memory of Isla. Depending on how training goes will determine whether I go for the half or full marathon. Let's see how the legs are !

As there is now a star named after our baby girl, we will be running to raise money for a fantastic charity "When You Wish Upon a Star". This brilliant organisation grants wishes for very poorly and terminally ill children. This could be from a visit to Lapland to see Santa, to see Mickey Mouse or something as simple as a trip to the Zoo. If you could see these children, you would be touched by their courage and some with the prospect of many months, sometimes years, of very painful treatment. They aim to bring a sparkle into their lives no matter how big or small.

If you have happy healthy children you know what joy it brings to see them smile. This is something we should never take for granted, When You Wish Upon A Star deals with those other areas where a sick child's Wish actually becomes a reality in what may sadly be a short life.

The prospect of raising money for a child's wish to become reality would be a perfect tribute to Isla Rose Miller.

I know times are tough but if you could donate as much as you possibly can, we would so appreciate it.

With our love and best wishes

Andrew, Simon, Mike and Neil

P.S IF WE HIT £3000, NEIL WILL RUN THE LAST MILE NAKED !!!
