Yorkshire Cancer Centre - Inca Trail Trek · 5 October 2012 ·

Leeds Cancer Centre, part of the Leeds Cares family, diagnoses and treats cancer for the people of Leeds and the Yorkshire region. It is one of the largest cancer centres in the UK and provide some of the most up-to-date treatment, care and support for people with cancer.

Story

On 5th October Charlotte and I will be setting off to Peru to find the Lost City of the Inca's in aid of the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

The Yorkshire Cancer Centre is the fundraising arm of St James’s Institute of Oncology and provides specialist medical equipment, research and development and patient ‘home comforts’ to 1,500 patients each day. The Centre is currently working towards a £10 million appeal to ensure that such services can be maintained. As it is a charity run department the facilities will only be available as long as the community continues to raise money to support the Centre. We are hoping to raise £10,000 as our contribution to this appeal with a minimum target of £6,500.

This will be a great challenge which will push both our physical and mental boundaries. Charlotte is currently working as a staff nurse at the hospital and I have recently received treatment at the centre myself. Both of us have seen first-hand how lucky we are as a community to have such a fantastic centre available to us and how vastly it benefits a patient’s treatment and cancer experience.

Any support would be greatly appreciated.
