Story

Hi everyone,

This page is dedicated to the memory of Ralph Murwill who collapsed and died on September 14th 2008, having just completed the Nottingham half marathon. He was just 28.

The cause of death was determined as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS), a disorder of the electrical system of the heart that can lead to the death of apparently healthy people without any warning.

Ralph had been hoping to take part in this race, so it seems a fitting tribute to the great man to run the marathon on his behalf.  Ralph's two brothers Phil and John Murwill and friend Mark Hughes will be tying ion their running shoes and hopefully in the process, we can help raise money for CRY, who fund research into Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, aswell as raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.

For all those who new him, Ralph was an amazing person, and his death has left a gaping hole in many people's lives.  There is simply not enough space on this page to do justice to a man who enriched the lives of all those he met.

Ralph was someone who was respected by everyone he met.  He was a great lover of sports. Rugby, football and tennis - happy with whatever the shape of the ball! (cheers for that marty!).  A solid, dependable and downright jolly bloke who had a tremendous future ahead of him. Ralph excelled at everything he did, much to everyone's admiration and occasional annoyance!

There's little doubt he would have achieved his ambition of working as a physio for a top rugby team very soon.  In fact he had just been contacted about an opportunity to work with a professional rugby club in the weeks before he died.  He had recently moved into a flat with his beloved Katie, all was going well for the man.

Ralph's death feels like a great injustice, and we have been robbed of a true friend and a great brother. Hopefully, by supporting CRY, other families will be able to avoid suffering a similar devastating loss.

Thank you all for your support. Every amount, however small or large, asides from helping CRY, will also make it easier us to face those dark, cold, winter training runs!

Cheers,

Phil, John and Mark

RIP Ralph,  we'll do you proud.
