Story

Triathlons completed so far:

Windsor, Eton Steelman, Marlow, London Hyde Park

More to follow...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On May 21st 2011, the world lost of one its really good guys when Ian Weed suffered a sudden cardiac arrest as he was cycling, in training for the Windsor Triathlon.

Ian was a devoted family man, and a special friend to many many people. Always larger than life, with a cheeky smile, and a great sense of humour, those around him could not help enjoy his company.

Weedy was super keen on sports, and Triathlon was something he enjoyed for years. This passion started with gym triathlons at work (row, bike, run) 10 years ago, and as the years progressed he moved to outdoor triathlons (swim, bike, run) and never looked back. In 2010 he completed his first full Olympic distance triathlon. Achieving this, was a result of Ian's 'never give up' attitude and his perseverance in achieving his goals. In 2011 he set his sights on completing the world renowned Windsor Triathlon. However, it was training for this event, on the actual course where the tragic accident occurred.

Ian has always raised lots of money for charity and became a patron for the NSPCC. His family have asked that his friends make donations to the NSPCC in memory of Ian.

We know how much Ian wanted to do the Windsor Triathlon, and how much he was looking forward to it. Therefore in honour of his life's achievements, and in memory of all the good times, we plan to complete the Windsor Triathlon as the 3 of us had planned.

In addition to this, Ian's godson (Josh) will be competing in the Steelman 2011 triathlon - the same event which Ian completed last year. James and Mark will also be racing in the Marlow Olympic, and London Olympic event in Hyde Park later in the summer.

If you would like to donate in the memory of Ian, then please do so.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
