Trekking to Everest Base Camp for INS.
We finished trekking to Everest Base Camp in October 2011, but fundraising Integrated Neurological Services (INS) will continue. INS provides much needed support for people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), or Stroke. Their services include home visits, therapy groups, education and training, etc. To run such activities and provide free services, it needs courage, determination Motivation and money.
The trekking presented a fantastic challenge to me. It has really everything including sweat and tears. I did not expect much drama until I suffered from Altitude Sickness at 4900m. After descending 600m and resting for two days, it was an extremely difficult decision to return the trek. For one, the time constraint made it almost impossible unless I walked for long hours. But with the body condition after the sickness, it posed a risk. Another problem was to find someone willing to take me back up. With some determinations and a bit of luck, I was able to arrive the Everest Basecamp. My story can be found on

The Everest Base Camp trek required courage, determination, a commitment to train to cope with the altitude and the terrain, and the ability of team members to support each other. In much the same way, people living with neurological conditions need courage and determination to deal with the unavoidable changes to their lives. They also need the help of the experienced team at INS to give every individual the skills and strategies that will enable them to cope at each stage of their condition, achieve their full potential and reach their own goals. Through INS they can also meet other people facing similar problems and are able to share solutions and give mutual support.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting INS and its valuable deeds. Any small amount is a great gratitude.
Thank you for your generosity!
