Story
This September, Wayne Preston, Jo Potts and Katie Taylor are taking on a 'once in a lifetime challenge' in South Africa to help benefit Starfish.
We will be joining 18 members of Private Bank in South Africa from Sunday 23rd September to Friday 28th September to cycle 760kms from Plettenberg Bay to Gordons Bay. This unique experience will require tremendous amounts of will-power to tackle six days of cycling in some of South Africa's most picturesque countryside.
To give you an idea of our route:
* Day 1: Sunday 23rd September 2007: Plettenberg Bay to George ± 110km
* Day 2: Monday 24th September 2007: George to Calitzdorp, via Oudtshoorn ± 110km
* Day 3: Tuesday 25th September 2007: Calitzdorp to Barrydale ± 160km
* Day 4: Wednesday 26th September 2007: Barrydale to Swellendam ± 120km
* Day 5: Thursday 27th September: Swellendam to Hermanus ± 150km
* Day 6: Friday 28th September: Hermanus to Gordons Bay ± 110km
* Total distance: ± 760km
This is going to be a huge challenge for all of us - six days of riding and some seriously steep climbs. We have all been training for the last 3 months and am confident that with some hard work, we will be able to complete the route.
Whatever you donate will help to make a difference to the lives of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in South Africa. We will be meeting some of these children at the end of my trip and hope that together we can raise a significant amount to help them out.
Whatever money we raise will be generously matched by the Private Bank and as a team, we hope to raise £50,000 over all!
Thank you so much for your support!
Wayne, Jo & Katie
