I am absolutely delighted to have been accepted as a volunteer with VSO in Ghana, West Africa. VSO is the leading international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries.

 I will be working with the national Disability Programme which seeks to enable people with disabilities to fufil their potential within society as citizens with equal rights and access to services. I will be sharing my skills and experiences in community and organisation development and help to develop the capacity of organisations to achieve Programme goals .

This will be a unique opportunity for me to live and work in a developing country for 12 months. I will have an opportunity to gain a real understanding of international development work and work alongside local people who are also committed to creating a fairer world for all.

Someone, much wiser than me, once said " it is giving that we receive ..... it is when we give of ourselves that we truly give." (St. Francis of Assisi). By donating to VSO you will help more people like me, give of their time, skills and experiences and help change lives.
