Hi everyone! You won’t believe this but I’ve just committed to a really, really serious running challenge. It’s not 5K and neither is it 10K! Those ‘short’ distances of 3.1 miles and 6.2 miles are just not enough so on October 5th 2008, I shall be running the world’s biggest half marathon race; The Great North Run – that’s 13.1 miles – live on TV! This is a serious, serious challenge and I’m having to really put in some serious, serious training. Although the going’s getting tough, I have a great incentive and that is to raise money for Just Care. Just Care is an amazing charity that helps provide basic necessities for disadvantaged children in Uganda that in the Western World we are fortunate enough to be able to take for granted. Think how much harder our lives would be without: · Clean drinking water · Sanitation · Healthcare · Education Just Care really needs your support to help provide these basic necessities and every £ counts. Please sponsor me now (and if you are a UK taxpayer, select Gift Aid because an extra 28% will be added to your donation instead of going to the Government) and as an added bonus, you can watch the race live on BBC TV and you might see me going through the pain barrier! Thanks very, very much, Irene (Renee) Peck (Half marathon runner in full training!)
