Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 16th July 2017 I'll be taking on IRONMAN UK, a long distance triathlon comprising a 2.4 mile open water swim, 112 miles on the bike, ending with 26.2 miles of running.
In more tangible terms that's the equivalent of 152 lengths of a swimming pool, followed by cycling the equivalent of the M25, or London to Birmingham, culminating in a marathon. All in one go.
When I signed up for the IRONMAN, I didn't even own a road bike. To say it's been a steep learning curve is an understatement. I am truly grateful to all of you for your support to date, for listening to me talk endlessly about distance, pace, carbon-framed Gwynnie (my glorious bike), medals and food, ALL the food. Did I mention the hunger? I know I couldn't do it without you.
For any of you who wish to sponsor me a few pounds (whether in recognition of my sporting mediocrity, stubbornness or stupidity), I've chosen to train for and complete this event in support of Macmillan. As you might know, Macmillan do an incredible job to support those affected by cancer, not only through research, but practical care from financial assistance to those suffering, all the way through to palliative and end of life care.
In particular, I want to do this to honour the lives of my grandfather, Harry, and to much loved, and much missed friends, Jenny and Albert. I hope all of the money that I am able to raise will also help in some small way. Please, if you're able to spare a few pounds, I'd be very grateful if you would sponsor me. The money that I raise will be going to an excellent cause that I am incredibly passionate about. In return I promise that I will give it my all, both in training and on the day itself, and I hope that I'll be able to do you proud.
Thank you very much for your support.
Sarah
