Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
A £5,000 target certainly does pose a challenge but we hope that the cause and indeed the Ironman itself provide the motivation for sponsorship.
The Cause
This event has been inspired by a young chap called Will Cooper. At the grand old age of 5 Will has already been through something that we all hope we never have to experience. Last year he was diagnosed with a Stage III Wilms' tumour the size of a large grapefruit on his kidney (please visit http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Cancertype/Childrenscancers/Typesofchildrenscancers/Wilmstumour for more information).
A year later we are delighted to say that the prognosis for Will is very positive and the radiotherapy sessions, the chemotherapy sessions, the surgeries and endless trips to A&E look like they are coming to an end.
So many thanks are owed to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Throughout the process the care and support provided to Will and his family has been second to none. Please consider this fund raising effort as a thank you to the hospital looking after Will and for all the work they do for children across the Midlands.
The Ironman
Both Sam and Graham have moderate experience in Triathlon and so, when looking for a suitable event to focus on, IronmanUK stood out. The event comprises a gentle 2.4 mile swim for a warm up, a 112 mile cycle and then a 26.2 mile amble around the Dorset countryside on Sunday 7th September 2008.
With 8 weeks left to go the fund raising now begins in earnest. Partly because the extra motivation always helps and partly because we now feel that we actually stand a fair chance of getting round!
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come down to support (please visit http://iron.ironmanuk.com/ for more information)
Sponsorship
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
THANK YOU!!
