September Update:
The trio is complete!
Tom and I completed the London Triathlon on 10th August - he pipped me to the post at just over 3 hours, but I was only a couple of minutes behind - all the more reason to try again next year!
Many thanks to everyone who's sponsored me this year. Mind will appreciate every penny you donated, and I've been bowled over by your generosity after 3 consecutive years of begging emails!
I'm putting my feet up now...well, after I've done a half marathon in October that is...
The events:
This year you get 3 events for the price of 1! For one great-value donation, you get the London Marathon on 13th April, the Sprint distance Blenheim Triathlon on 7th June and a grand finale - the never-before attempted (by me) Olympic distance London Triathlon on 10th August. Me? I get blisters, a faceful of Thames water and entry to a whole new world of pain!
The motivation:
Our mum Kath died on 29th March 2005 after a lifelong battle with manic depression. This year would have marked her 60th birthday, and I'd like to celebrate her life by having a go at these three events and raising as much as I can in her memory.
The charity:
1 in 4 of us will experience mental illness in our lifetime, and the work of charities like Mind is crucial in helping sufferers and their families through what can be a confusing, frustrating and distressing time. For more on Mind and what they do, visit www.mind.org.uk.
Thanks for donating!
(The blurb): Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mind will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
