Virgin London Marathon 2016 · 24 April 2016 ·

CARE International is a humanitarian organisation leading the fight to end poverty in the world’s most challenging situations. Women and girls are at the centre of our work, because we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities.

Story

Sunday 24 April 2016 brings the 36th Virgin Money London Marathon and I've managed to strong-arm four of our more energetic ISG 5 Broadgate project team members - Oliver, Liam, Scott and Chris - to take on the massive challenge of running the London Marathon in partnership with CARE International UK to raise funds for a number of CARE sponsored charity projects.

The four lads, CM's & TSMs, have been 'in training' since before Christmas and with all our support and my personal backing are aiming to raise over £10,000 which will be doubled to £20,000 following the Government's recent announcement that until 4 June 2016, every pound raised for CAREs Help Her Live, Learn and Earn campaign, will be DOUBLED by the UK Government – with the extra funds going directly to water, sanitation, and women’s rights projects in Ethiopia.

By hitting the overall target and with the government's backing we could help CARE provide;

  • Seeds to 9,259 families to grow food to feed themselves.
  • 2,352 families with a water treatment package, containing chlorine tablets to make water safe to drink.
  • 2,000 children with two weeks worth of emergency  healthcare at a mobile health clinic.
  • 2,500 families with an essential food package.
  • 1,333 infant care packages, containing nappies, antibacterial soap and baby skin cream to families in need.
  • Access to clean and safe water to 200 classes of school children over a year.

Please show your support for our team and see your life-changing donation doubled by the UK Government. Every penny is appreciated.

Thank you

Mark Ashford
