Story

Hello welcome to Isla's page, Isla was born with a multi cystic dysplastic kidney which means it's full of cyst and has no kidney tissue! but the good news is her second kidney is compensating for the mcdk although this is also diseased as it is enlarged and formed differently then a normal kidney but we call it a super kidney :0) she's as had and will have to go through routine test and have regular check ups to make sure the working one stays that way and to keep an eye on the mcdk and hopefully this one will shrivel up and disperse if not there is a chance it could cause problems and need removing but fingers crossed this won't be the case.

Also Isla is going through some investigation with an issue with her brain as her ventricles are enlarged witch means there is too much fluid around her brain but there is no pressure so she doesn't need it draining off, But She is a bit delayed with her development and very small and doesn't eat much so puts on weight slowly, she's still in 3-6 months clothes and she's just turn a year but she was born 4 weeks early and was very small for her gestation 4lb120z! and to make matters worse she dropped to 3lb13oz.  but now she's a whopping 14lb :0)

So Kids kidney research is a cause close to our hearts this is some of the issues your money helps do
Defining the best treatment for those children who suffer from vesicoureteric reflux,                                                        Exploring new therapies which can potentially heal damaged kidneys,                                                                              Finding the faulty genes which can run in families and cause kidney diseases

So our kindest thanks for your generous donations, it means alot to us
