Great North Run 2008 · 5 October 2008 ·

Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

On 5 October 2008, I (yes, Andrew Clark) will be competing in the Great North Run on behalf of Mencap.  Thanks for visiting this page.  Please go ahead and sponsor me online...

As if training to run four times further than I've ever managed before doesn't sound silly enough, I'm also planning on keeping an online diary documenting my Herculean efforts in the run-up to the race.  You can find it here: http://itsahalfmarathon.blogspot.com/.  Please have a read and by all means offer your helpful advice (unless it's just to stop writing).   And, yes, I know it's a bit out-of-date at the moment.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

But don't let all this text put you off.  I'll be putting myself through two hours of misery for an excellent cause and I hope to raise as much money as possible.  Thanks in advance for your generous donations.

Cheers
Andrew.
