Elephant poaching is increasing.  Thousands of elephants could be killed just for their tusks.

EIA has been monitoring the poaching of elephants and the illegal ivory trade for over twenty years.

So when, at the end of 2008, four African countries were allowed to sell stockpiles of ivory to China and Japan, EIA warned that this could provide cover for a black market to operate and allow poaching to increase.  Intelligence from the field already shows a massive increase and with several more African governments set to sell their ivory, this spells disaster for wild elephants.

We must not return to 1980s levels of poaching when over 200 elephants a week were being slaughtered for their tusks.

EIA is the only organisation working to provide the irrefutable evidence required to prove that poaching is on the increase and to show the trail of illegal ivory from Africa to Asia.  The evidence from our investigations can stop further sales and save the lives of elephants.

Our work is difficult and dangerous.  Ivory smuggling is perpetrated by powerful criminal syndicates.  A successful investigation depends on a convincing cover story, specialist equipment and brave EIA field operatives.  We urgently need to raise £20,000.

Please make a donation today to support our work.
