Story
Dear Friends and Family…
All of you who knew Mom will know how much she enjoyed life, how much she enjoyed doing for others and never once put herself first….she never complained no matter how poorly she felt and cherished everyday she spent with her family and watching her grandchildren, Russell and Natasha, growing up…
…what most people wont know is that for the past 4 years Mom had suffered with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC) which is a slow, chronic liver disease which can cause progressive destruction of the bile ducts in the liver. The cause of PBC is at present unknown, although it is thought to be an autoimmune disease whereby the body's immune system malfunctions and turns on itself. PBC predominantly affects females and it is thought that it may be hereditary but like many liver diseases it requires further research.
Mom had been involved with the PBC Foundation who, with The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research, are undertaking research to try to establish the cause of PBC which will put researchers in a better position to develop new and more effective treatments for the disease...all donations will go towards this research and will be a wonderful legacy to Mom’s memory…

She had already managed to persuaded her Son Lee to enter the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere on the 4th September in aid of the Foundation : http://www.greatswim.org/events/British-Gas-Great-North-Swim/ ...so anyone who wishes to sponsor him on behalf of the PBC can also do this on this website. God Bless...and thank you.
