Story

My name is Jack Wilkinson, this Summer, along with James Bagnall, I
will be driving from the UK to Cape Town going through Europe and down
the east coast of Africa. Last year I spent a month living and working
with an orphanage in Malawi and left with a determination to go back
to this beautiful country and help make a difference. This trip, with
the help of the MOD, is the result of that dream. The country of
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and with one of
the highest proportion of orphans to adults. In total there are over a
million orphans and is because of the ongoing aids and HIV problems in
the area. We aim to raise money for Medic Malawi (www.medicmalawi.com)
whose funds have established a hospital, orphanage and various rural
heath programmes as well as supporting a village primary and secondary
schools. All of this helps stabilise the situation in the village of
Mtunthama and the surrounding area.

We are planning to spend around 4 months in Africa spending time at St
Andrew's Hospital and the AMAO Orphanage in Mtunthama.

We have set our self a target of £15000. The money we raise will all
be going into this major project. Although a small proportion will
help with making transport  safe and trip-ready,  everything else we
raise will be going straight to supporting the work of Medic Malawi
