Brighton Marathon 2014 · 6 April 2014 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have a reason to celebrate.
In July, my mum was diagnosed with cancer. A couple Mondays ago was her last (hopefully ever) chemotherapy session. Now, she only has an operation left, and her treatment will be finished. I know that I am so lucky, and that so is she. Many people have dedicated their lives to researching cancer, it's cures, and treatments. Without them, I would quite possibly not have a mum right now. I am forever grateful to them, and all the people who have helped her, treated her, and looked after her (especially when I haven't been able to). There are so many people whose news will not be as happy as mine.
I would also like to show my admiration for her own strength. Not once has she ever considered that she wouldn't get better, and has stayed strong when those around her fell apart. My mum is the bravest person I know, I can't even imagine how that kind of news would affect you.
In celebration (and I know that it's still premature, but I am keeping my hopes high), I am going to be running in the Brighton Marathon in April, raising money for Breast Cancer Care. I now ask you guys for your help fundraising (even if just a small amount); I would count the good majority of you as my friends.
Hopefully, soon, the hardest chapter of our lives to date will be finished for good. It has been a difficult time for all of us (obviously my mum especially), and it will be nice just to not dread every phone call you get. It really puts your other problems into perspective, motivates you to do more with your life than you have achieved to date, and makes it bloody hard to sleep at night. For the most part, it has been too hard to even talk about, and I can't wait for the day I hear the words "it's gone." Soon.
Well done mum, keep battling, I love you!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. They'll also apply for Gift Aid, basically helping me raise more money (25% extra) for Breast Cancer Care.
I've got some plans for the new year, to help with my Fundraiser, and will be doing a long-distance cylce, swim, and run, and am currently trying to organise a football tournament. So keep checking this page, I'll try to update it as often as I can.
Please share this with as many people as you can, as the more I can raise, the more it will help others. If you can only spare a couple of pounds, that's good enough for me! Thanks for all your support guys, I'll try to make you all proud.
