The Kirkwood exists to improve the quality of life for local people, against all odds. We help those in our care to live well and make the most of every single day. We make the complex simple by focusing on what's important, and we support families and loved ones to live on and live well.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be aiming to complete the Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield on the 6th September this year, I thought it would be a nice idea to run and raise some money for Kirkwood Hospice who offered great care to my grandma and many other patients who face a life-threatening illness. When the Hospice opened in 1987 the cost of providing care was £300,000. In 2007 it cost the hospice £3.4million to maintain its services and over £2.7million of this total was raised from voluntary sources.  However, thanks to support from throughout the community Kirkwood has been able to provide its services for the last 20 years, free of charge, to those who need it. So it is hugely important that these donations and voluntary sources continue to ensure the excellent work of the hospice continues for many years to come.
