Story

Thank you for visiting Jack's fundraising page.

Updated 22/07/2007

As the end of this fundraising page approaches we'd like to say a big "Thank You" to all who contributed in Jack's name.  There have been times when looking at this page has helped ease the pain of loss felt by all who knew and loved Wee Jack.

Updated 12/08/2006

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of those who have donated via this page.  The whole family feel that it's a wonderful tribute to Jack that so much has been donated to a great cause in his name, and it's helped us a great deal at this difficult time.

When we first started this page we didn't believe there was a chance in the world that we'd meet the £1000 target during the year that the page will be active, but it's already been smashed!  In view of this, and in view of the benefits "When You Wish Upon a Star" brings to families, we hope you understand why we feel the need to raise the bar again. Please consider mentioning the cause to your friends and family.

Jack was buried on Tuesday 8th August 2006, following a very well-attended service.  Donations made during the service totalled £425 in aid of Cancer Research which was absolutely amazing.

Thank you all so much for your generosity.

UPDATE: Jack passed away on the night of 31st July/1st August 2006.

-----------------------------------

Jack's currently in the final (terminal) stage of a 19 month battle with Hodgkin's Disease (lymphoma).

Throughout Jack's illness he's fought bravely and with good humour, doing what he could to help the doctors find better treatments for any future sufferers.

Jack's visit to Lapland in December 2005 was a truly magical experience for all involved and made a real difference to his quality of life.  The memories of his trip will last a lifetime.

Jack's family feel that they would like to contribute towards giving other children and their families similar opportunities. They have asked that when the time comes, that people donate to the charity rather than sending flowers - it will make a real difference!

By making a donation, you can turn the wishes of children who suffer from life threatening illnesses into dreams come true.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: When You Wish Upon A Star will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Please donate generously.

Many thanks for your support.
