Story

With just a 10% survival chance, Jack Simons came into this world on the 2nd October 2012 at 6.04am, 16 weeks early. He was born at Luton & Dunstable Hospital weighing 1lb 9oz and was rushed straight into the NICU where his life was saved by some of the most incredible Doctors, Sisters and Nurses. The care Jack received, both medically and personally was outstanding, along with the support given to us through what was the most frightening experience and time of our lives.

During Jack's time at L&D, he suffered from Chronic Lung Disease, had a Pulmonary Haemorrhage, an open duct in his heart (PDA), Hyperglycaemia, Septicaemia, Gastro-oesophagael Reflux, Inguinal Hernia Bilateral, Retinopathy of Premiturity and a small intraventricular haemorrhage. Jack had numerous ultrasounds and xrays, intubation, ossolation, BiPap, CPAP, nasal cannular oxygen, multiple long line insertion, nasal gastric tube, chemical injections into his eyes, 10 blood transfusions, many courses of antibiotics and 2 courses of treatment for the PDA. That along with the care and attention he received from all those who looked after Jack means we now have a beautiful smiley healthy little boy.

Without a doubt we owe everything to L&D and we can never thank them enough for what they did for Jack and for us.

We can start by helping them raise money to help buy new equipment and open another new (and long awaited) NICU that will help double the amount of babies like Jack who are born too soon or those who are unwell.

Please donate what you can to an amazing place.
