Story
Hi,
I have chosen to run the great North for the third time this year, as always in memory of a very dear friend, Jonny Leigh, who passed away in September 2005.
Jonny was everything you could ask for in a friend and more, and he is missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have met him. it has been nearly three years since Jonny passed away, and nothing can take the heart ache away. He was only 20 when he died, and was loving life to the full. He was an outstanding sportsman, who enjoyed playing all sports, especially football, where he competed at a high level all his life.
His death touched everyone, and it has been extremely hard to come to terms with, especially for his family. I have decided to run for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in order to raise money and awareness for this charity. CRY is a charity founded in May 1995 to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young - Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD), or Sudden Death Syndrome. CRY offers support to those who have suffered a loss through a network of affected families & counseling. They also promote heart screening, ECG Testing Programmes & contributes to medical research. They also continue to donate medical equipment to doctors surgeries and hospitals around the world. They need donations to continue their good work, and reduce the number of deaths, by indentifying signs early on in a Childs life.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cardiac Risk in the Young will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I ran last year and didn’t manage to break the 2nhour mark so this time i aim to do this and raise as much money as possible for CRY so thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Much Love,
Jack
